Pawn Shops are a Big Business

In the United States, there are around 12,000 to 13,000 pawn shops. Around 30 million people rely on pawn shops in order to buy and sell used items, or to make ends meet. Pawn shops are there to offer short-term loans when you’re in need, and they also sell merchandise at a discounted price.

Getting a loan at a pawn shop is fairly straightforward. Basically, you bring the item in that you would like to pawn. From there, the pawnbroker will inspect if and if he feels it is something he could eventually sell, he will offer a loan to you. If you accept the offer, you will get cash right then and there.

You will be given a time frame to pay the money back and after that money is paid back in full (interest and all), you will be able to get the item back. If you fail to repay the loan, then you will lose the item you pawned and the pawnbroker can sell it in order to make his profit.
